Boardmasters BMX competition, Saturday 8th August 2015

Here are some of the images I took of a BMX competition that was taking place at Fistral beach during the weekend. My aim for the weekend was to watch as many skate and BMX competitions as possible and photograph them all. However due to the shifts that I had with Oxfam, this is the only competition I managed to see, and I was only able to stay for 5 minutes as I was on my way back to the festival site for a shift.

As I was only able to stay for a short period of time, I didn't think a lot about the images I was taking, it was very much a case of point and shoot, and hope they turn out okay. In my opinion the images are okay, they're colourful, the composition is good, and the bikers are visible. I would have liked to stand much closer to the ramp, in order to get clearer images of the bikers and more creative compositions. The images are very much about the action and the skills that the bikers posses. I would have liked to have been able to stay for a lot longer, possibly talk to the athletes and photograph them for a few hours.

Watergate Bay, Newquay. August 2015

During the summer I spent a few weeks working at festivals for Oxfam. One of these festivals was Boardmasters, which was my favorite of the summer. The festival site overlooked one of the many stunning beaches in Newquay, Watergate Bay. These are 3 of my favorite images from one afternoon spent down at Watergate. These 3 images stood out to me as they capture perfectly the atmosphere of the day, slightly gloomy weather, but relaxed and beautiful.

I also believe that these images depict what lifestyle surfers lead, the images connote a feeling of comfort in the outdoors, and a sense of the humans belonging and blending with their surroundings
